About the Library
Since being founded in 1970, the CIIL library has become one of the leading libraries in Linguistics and allied areas. Collection in all the Indian languages including the tribal languages is an added feature. Our main collection includes books and periodicals in print media and non book materials like microfiche, microfilms, film strips, audio tapes, gramophone disc, floppies, CDs, VCDs, maps, and charts, etc.
We also have a Reference Collection featuring encyclopedias, dictionaries, directories, indexes, Census of India publications, government reports, and basic reference sources in all Indian languages.
Other special collection includes: Childrens literature, Granth Academy text books, Indian literature in translation, Adult literacy materials, etc.
